5 Things I Wished I Would Have Done When Raising Children
As your children age, you will spend some time in reflection. Thinking about the things that you should have done differently. While you should spend some time focusing on bad decisions in order not to repeat them, focusing too much on these issues is not productive. There is always something that you could have done differently, something you should have said. You could have given another piece of candy on Halloween or signed up your child for dance rather than gymnastics. Or, you could have forced your sons into wrestling since they were always intertwined on the living room floor trying to see who was the superior brother. However, you were making the best decisions you could at the time. No one knows the future and what might have helped along the way.
With that being said, there are some things that I wish I would have done differently. Here are a few of them.
Fisher Price Rock ‘n Play Sleeper
My children slept horribly when they were younger. However, whenever we got into the car, they were out like lights. I wish I would have had a vibrating bed for them to sleep in such as the Fisher Price Rock ‘n Play Sleeper. I think that would have changed the world. Or, at least gotten me more sleep.
Notice a trend? My youngest didn’t sleep through the night until she was 3 ½ years old. I wish I would have tried more products to get her to sleep better through the night. I think a Halo SleepSack would help a troubled sleeper stay snuggly swaddled and would lead to better sleep.
While this product has been around for ages, a Diaper Genie is still a fantastic product to have on hand. Don’t have your trash smelling like nasty disposable diapers and stink spray!
Little Partners Learning Tower
Your child will want to see what you’re doing. I know mine did and putting their dirty pants on the counter, so they can sit next to you and help is not exactly sanitary. Not to mention when they hop off and snag their shirts on your cabinet doors, they rip their shirts. Or worse yet, they catch their dress on your cabinet door handle and rip the door off the hinges. Getting their own Little Partners Learning Tower can alleviate a lot of problems and let them be a part of the action.
Yes, it sounds gross, but kids hate that white bulb sucker that is supposed to suck the snot out and doesn’t. While I’ve never used a NoseFrida SnotSucker, there are glowing reviews about how it really gets the snot out. However, you might feel a little weird about putting a tube in your mouth to suck the snot out of your child’s nose. Thankfully, they have installed a filter to protect the user from getting a mouth full of snot and germs.
While you might think there are several things that you are doing wrong or have done wrong as a parent, you were making the best choices you could at the time with the information you had. However, purchasing some products that make your life easier is something that is simple and should be considered.
